Ever heard of Haemophilia?

Honestly, I've never heard of it until I took part in this charity event which aims to raise funds for people who have haemophilia. It is a group of hereditary genetic disorders that impair the body's ability to control blood clotting or coagulation, which is used to stop bleeding when a blood vessel is broken. (from Wikipedia)

A few main points of Haemophilia:

• Haemophilia A (clotting factor VIII deficiency) is the most common form of the disorder, present in about 1 in 5,000–10,000 male births.
• As Haemophilia is like a "X chromosome disorder", it is more likely to occur to males than female since females have two X chromosome while males only have one.
• Prevents fibre formation needed for blood clotting
• Does not bleed more intensely than others, but bleed for a much longer time, up to even days and weeks.

So if you imagine bleeding was to happen in the brain or other vital organs. hmm. 

Hence, there's an upcoming event HSS  (Haemophilic Society of Singapore) Walkaton 2012, held on: Sunday, April 15 2012

7.00am - 11.30am

there will be games, food, a walkaton, for everyone to have fun and play a part to encourage and raise funds  for people with this chronic disease. 

So if you have time, just come down to East Coast park on that day, and have spent a meaningful morning with the people you love :D
